About the Colorado Mountain Reclamation Foundation
The
Colorado Mountain Reclamation foundation (CMRF) has made significant
strides since its founding in 1991. The mountain backdrop in the
Pikes Peak region has a new look, thanks to efforts by countless
volunteers from Colorado Springs. These hardworking folks dug,
planted,
weeded and watered to restore the Queens Canyon quarry site and
begin enhanced reclamation of the Pikeview and Snyder quarry sites.
Today the barren, rocky "scar" once so visible to citizens
of the Pikes Peak region is filled in with more than 5,000 trees
and approximately two hundred thousand square yards of topsoil
and
other vegetation.
